Interventions for the Transition to Oral Feeding in Preterm Newborns: A Systematic Review

Yıl 2023, Cilt: 3 Sayı: 2, 28 - 35, 30.05.2023

Öz

Aim: This review was carried out to examine the effects of the methods used in the transition to oral feeding in preterm newborns, the results of the randomized controlled and quasi-experimental nursing studies.
Methods: This study is a systematic review. 4 databases including PubMed, Google Scholar, Science Direct and Cochrane "preterm infants, feeding methods, transition to oral feeding and randomized controlled trial" searched by matching keywords. All relevant English studies published in the literature between 1999-2022 were evaluated. The PRISMA checklist was used.
Results: A total of 2252 records were reached as a result of scanning the databases. 14 randomized studies that met the inclusion criteria were included in the study and their results were evaluated. It was determined that oral stimulation interventions were frequently applied in the transition of preterm infants to oral feeding.
Conclusion: According to the included studies, oral motor stimulation and combined interventions applied to preterm newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit can accelerate the transition to oral feeding and shorten the length of hospital stay compared to standard care.

Preterm Yenidoğanlarda Oral Beslenmeye Geçiş Yöntemleri: Sistematik Bir İnceleme

Yıl 2023, Cilt: 3 Sayı: 2, 28 - 35, 30.05.2023

Öz

Amaç: Bu derleme, Preterm yenidoğanlarda oral beslenmeye geçişte kullanılan yöntemlerin etkisini randomize kontrollü ve yarı deneysel tasarımda olan hemşirelik çalışma sonuçlarını incelemek amacıyla gerçekleştirildi.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu çalışma sistematik derleme türündedir. Bu amaçla ‘‘preterm bebekler (preterm infants), besleme yöntemleri (feeding methods), ağızdan beslenmeye geçiş (transition to oral feeding) ve randomize kontrollü çalışma (randomised controlled trial)’’anahtar kelimeleri ile eşleştirilerek PubMed, Google Scholar, Science Direct ve Cochrane olmak üzere 4 veri tabanı tarandı. Literatürde yayınlanmış 1999-2022 tarihleri arasında ilgili tüm İngilizce çalışmalar değerlendirildi. Sistematik derleme hazırlanırken PRİZMA kontrol listesinden yararlanıldı.
Bulgular: Veri tabanlarının taraması sonucunda toplam 2252 kayda ulaşıldı. Dahil edilme kriterlerine uyan 14 randomize araştırma çalışma kapsamına alındı ve sonuçları değerlendirildi. Preterm bebeklerin oral beslenmeye geçişinde sıklıkla oral stimülasyon müdahalelerinin uygulandığı belirlendi.
Sonuç: Dahil edilen araştırmalara göre preterm yenidoğanlara yenidoğan yoğun bakımda uygulanan oral motor stimülasyon ve kombine müdahaleler standart bakıma kıyasla oral beslenmeye geçişi hızlandırabilir ve hastanede yatış süresini kısaltabilir.
