- Reference 1: Professor Nino Dvalidze shared us very capturing method of storytelling. She illustrates one of the story, taken from Georgian folklore. Then she suggests the concrete questions and some interesting activities in order to elicit the content and main idea of the story; What is more important, she motivates the students to create their own stories and make the Journal entries; Do the presentations and in result Develop all the four necessary skills for learning the English Language successfully. The Author of the article is a follower of the famous storyteller Michael Berman. Prof.Nino Dvalidze and Michael Berman compiled a course-book “Teaching English through Storytelling” where many interesting stories are included from different cultures and folklore. Such books really help to fill the informational gap between different cultures and causes more empathy to other nations habits and history.

Generally we give the students new texts to read, to translate, to analyze, to interpret, but we seldom tell them stories. Students like listening to different stories; they are entertained as in their childhood by hearing the new stories, amused and motivated to learn new words, to retell the texts, do suggested different kinds of exercises and write their reflection. They answer different questions, which a teacher asks. In result, develop their listening, writing and speaking skills. Thus, prof. Nino Dvalidze’s article “Teaching English through Storytelling” is rather actual and original work, which will bring many benefits to the University students.
